Legal Info: Is LC Markets Legit or a Scam?

LC Markets claims to be based in the offshore domain of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). This is bad news right off the bat because SVG is notorious for being the nest of countless scammers.

The biggest issue with SVG is that Forex trading is not regulated there. The local Financial Services Authority (FSA) regulates only the banking sector and does so in a pretty loose manner. Regardless, LC Markets is just an anonymous website, not a real company.

This entity is nowhere to be found in the FSA’s register. But check this out – the fraudster tried to appear legit by claiming to be a member of the Financial Commission, an independent self-regulatory organization and external dispute resolution body, dedicated specifically to Forex.

However, the link to the license leads to the website of a fake Financial Commission. The real one even issued a warning against this clone-website on March 29, 2023. So LC Markets is basically an anonymous website rather than a true broker. Please avoid LC Markets and do not trust Luxe Capital either, it’s another trading scam we exposed.

LC Markets Scam Broker

LC Markets Scam Gets On a Blacklist

Just because they’re located in a regulatory gray area doesn’t mean that the LC Markets scam should be allowed to freely run their illicit conduct. SVG may not regulate brokers, but promoting and selling brokerage services in well-developed countries isn’t an option for fraudulent platforms.

The first entity to detect unscrupulous actions and behavior coming from this domain was the Financial Commission, which has even published their attitude towards the firm in the form of a public warning

Although an independent and non-government operated institution, this organization is reputable and doesn’t spare any scammer of the treatment they deserve.

Reputable Firm But Unrated?

The story presented by this fraudster cannot be confirmed by a single concrete evidence. The unsubstantiated information on the site about thousands of satisfied customers isn’t backed by a single positive rating on Trustpilot, Sitejabber, Reviews.io, or 99Consumer. As a matter of fact, this company is so anonymous and unbeknownst to anyone that no reviews or ratings of any kind exist.

If they were so trusted and popular among investors, they’d be kept in high regard. It would be evident from the customers’ opinions and experiences posted online that they’re a favored trading portal. This way, no trace appears.

Countries of Service

According to the data of whois, the LC Markets website domain was created on June 30, 2022. This bogus platform has since been targeting traders mainly from the following countries:

  • US;
  • UK;
  • Argentina.

We did not find any other LC Markets reviews, which could imply that this scammer has not yet claimed any victims. At least we hope not. Nevertheless, if you happen to reside in these countries, beware of this scam.

Trust only brokers that are licensed by your respective regulator. If you are a victim of the LC Markets scam, please contact us for help.

Missing Terms of Service for LC Markets

Yes, LC Markets does not have any legal documentation whatsoever. The scammer seriously expects you to trust an anonymous website with your hard-earned money?!

There is no client agreement or terms of use to which you could refer in case of issues and disputes. That’s why unregulated brokers such as LC Markets and ECforex are dangerous. It’s reason enough not to do any business with LC Markets, especially not invest money in this scheme.

Available Trading Platforms

LC Markets promises two of the best platforms in the trading industry – MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5. These amazing pieces of software have set the bar high when it comes to performance.

LC Markets Platform

Both MT platforms offer a wide range of cutting-edge tools and features such as automated trading, lightning-fast order execution, a customizable interface, and advanced charting. These platforms can be downloaded on Windows, Android and iOS systems. However, the links the broker provided on the website simply lead you to the main site of MetaQuotes’ platforms.

Since LC Markets requires full registration, personal data, and a deposit, we could not check the platforms for ourselves but we assume that MT software is just a ruse to attract traders. Even if there is a legit platform there, you cannot trade safely with an unregulated broker.

Choice of Account Types

When it comes to different account types, LC Markets offers five choices:

  • Standard;
  • Gold;
  • Platinum;
  • ECN;
  • Swap-free.

The prices, i.e. minimum deposit requirements for these account types were not disclosed. The accounts themselves were supposedly designed for Forex trading and yet, LC Markets has no FX trading license. Call us if you need help recovering your funds!

Aside from the classic live accounts, the broker also offers a PAMM & MAM account used as a form of pooled money forex trading where the investor gets to allocate money to the designated trader or money manager.

LCMarkets.net Trading Instruments

Here is an overview of the available trading instruments:

  • Forex currency pairs – EUR/USD, AUD/USD, GBP/JPY…
  • Stocks – Apple, Google, Tesla…
  • Commodities – gold, oil, wheat…
  • Indices – S&P 500, NASDAQ 100…
  • Crypto – BTC, ETH, XPR…

Leverage, Spreads & Commissions

The maximum leverage can be set between 1:200 and 1:400 depending on the account type. Note that both these levels are pretty high, considerably higher than the regulatory limit in force in Europe and Australia (1:30) or North America (1:50).

Such high leverage is a double-edged sword that often tilts toward losses. As for the spreads, LC Markets mentions low spreads from 0.6 pips, which is decent if true but still cannot compensate for the lack of regulation. The broker charges a commission of 6 $ per lot on the ECN account.

Does LC Markets Have a Demo Account?

No, there is no demo account. That’s bad news, especially for novice traders. If you have no trading experience, you should first try out a demo account and spend virtual funds, without risking real money.

That way you will test things out to find out whether trading is for you. The only problem is that LC Markets does not offer a risk-free demo account but there are plenty of legitimate and licensed brokers that do so be sure to check them out instead of this scammer.

LC Markets Withdrawal

The only payment-related thing LC Markets’ website says is 24/5 fast money transfer. We do not know anything about the available payment methods, the minimum deposit & withdrawal amounts, or the related fees.

Such a lack of transparency is alarming. If we had to assume, this scammer only deals with crypto transactions, the reason being that this method of payment provides anonymity, which is great for the scammer but bad for the client.
